Canelo vs Crawford - Former pound-for-pound superstar who never lost a fight makes his prediction
Earlier this week, it was confirmed that one of the biggest fights of 2025 will finally take place as Canelo welcomes Crawford to super-middleweight for what is the biggest test of the American's career.
Since defeating Errol Spence in the summer of 2023 , Crawford has made it clear that he has wanted to prove himself against Canelo and he will finally get the chance when the first bell sounds in just under three months.
Crawford, like Canelo, has climbed through the weights impressively in recent years and he has captured undisputed honours at both super-lightweight and welterweight.
With Canelo holding all four titles at 168lbs, victory for Crawford would see him become ruler with every belt in a third weight class.
Ward, a former world champion at super-middleweight and light-heavyweight, is fully aware of what it takes to step up in weight and class after defeating major names such as Carl Froch and Sergey Kovalev.
The Oakland man was linked to a showdown with Canelo for large portions of his career, but now retired, he believes that Crawford can do what he never got the chance to and that is defeat Canelo.
“I’m going with Terence Crawford, you know, big weight jump, dangerous fight, but somebody has got to prove to me that they can break Terence Crawford’s will and that he can’t figure it out against you,” said Ward when speaking to Boxing News .
“It ain’t no disrespect to Canelo but I’ve said this the last couple, I am not betting against Terence Crawford against anybody right now, you’ve got to show me that you can beat him.”
