Lewis Crocker and Paddy Donovan gave emotional reactions following their brutal battle in Belfast.

The two unbeaten welterweights went head-to-head on Saturday night in front of a sell-out, 8,000-strong crowd who provided an atmosphere to remember.

Donovan dominated the contest, but he was subject to two point deductions from referee Marcus McDonell for use of an elbow and his head.

At the end of round eight, Donovan found himself disqualified after hitting Crocker with a right hand after the bell had sounded.

With an ending such as this, many would expect Crocker to be angry in his post fight interview, but surprisingly, he was quick to point out that despite keeping his unbeaten record, benefitting from a disqualification was not how he wanted to win the contest.

"That’s not the way I want to win a fight!" Crocker told DAZN

"I heard the bell, I dropped my hands and because I could not see from the headbutts, a punch came out of nowhere after the bell."

Donovan on the other hand was very emotional with his performance putting him in complete control of the fight.

Speaking to DAZN after the fight, Donovan directed his frustration towards the referee.

"I won the fight; I was winning every single round. I dropped Lewis, I was beating him up, I was getting the knockout," Donovan said.

"They said I hit him after the bell, but I thought I hit him on the bell. You could see Lewis was a beaten man, I won the fight fair and square. The ref took my dreams away tonight."

Crocker has earned a shot at IBF welterweight champion Jaron 'Boots' Ennis as a result of his win, however, with an ending such as this, it would be no surprise if Crocker and Donovan meet in an immediate rematch.
