Jake Paul returns to the ring to take on Julio Cesar Chavez Jr on June 28 in California in a bout to be shown live on DAZN

Holding a professional record of 11-1 (7), Paul has fought some legends of combat sport to accumulate this record and, by fighting Chavez Jr, takes on his toughest challenge yet in the son of the legendary Julio Cesar Chavez and a former WBC world champion

So, where are those who shared the ring with Paul now?

Tommy Fury

The only blemish on the Ohio native’s record is his split decision loss to Tommy Fury in 2023.

Fury was the most respected fighter Paul had fought up to that point, and the American gave a good account of himself in the fight, knocking Fury down in the final round.

Since the pair fought, Fury went on to fight another YouTube creator and long-time rival of Jake Paul later that year - KSI

It was a surprisingly competitive affair that saw Tyson Fury's brother claim a unanimous decision over six rounds.

After this, Fury took a near 2-year hiatus from the ring, due to a hand injury he had battled through in his last two fights. He had surgery in early 2024 and revealed his struggles with mental health and alcoholism on his journey to return to the squared circle.

In his comeback fight last month, Fury fought Kenan Hanjalic in a plodding affair that saw him claim another points decision over six rounds.

Mike Tyson

The former undisputed heavyweight champion made a shock foray out of retirement to take on Paul in front of 70,000 fans in Texas at 58 years old.

The fight was met with controversy due to Tyson’s advanced age and having not had a sanctioned bout in nearly 20 years.

Tyson lost a unanimous decision over 8 rounds and said in the aftermath he would be open to fighting again.

It seems, however, that Tyson has decided to pivot away from boxing and commit himself fully to a business project he started years ago.

It was announced in April that Tyson would become the CEO of the lifestyle organisation Carma HoldCo, the parent company behind Tyson’s Cannabis venture, Tyson 2.0, based in Las Vegas.

Speaking on the new role, Tyson said: “This isn’t just a title—it’s a responsibility I take seriously. I’ve wanted to be more involved for a long time, and now is the right time to take that step."

Mike Perry

The former UFC fighter fought Paul in 2024, in his second professional boxing fight, and Paul was dominant, knocking him down three times and ending the fight in the sixth round.

Perry is now focusing on podcasting and getting his venture - ‘Dirty Boxing Championship’, up and running.

He is also still contracted for three more fights under the Bare Knuckle Fight Club (BKFC) promotion despite the co-owner Conor McGregor stating he was fired after his loss to Paul.

Perry is 5-0 with BKFC and is considered one of their biggest stars, and he says he is in early talks to make his return this year.

Perry told MMA Junkie: "I want to, I want to. I have the urge. I'm hungry for it. I do train, and I was just talking to someone, saying I want to turn up the heat in my training over the next eight weeks. I've had some calls and conversations, talked with a lot of powerful, important people, and it's always the same story: Get me back in the ring, I want to get back in front of the people and show the eyes these punches."

Anderson Silva

Paul fought Silva, the former UFC middleweight champion, in 2022, beating the Brazilian via unanimous decision in what Paul describes as the best win of his career, as Silva had been an idol of the American’s growing up.

Silva had previously ventured into boxing before fighting Paul, having two fights in 2021. He beat Paul’s next opponent, Chavez Jr and another retired MMA fighter, Tito Ortiz.

Many thought the loss to Jake Paul would be the last they would see of the former champion in boxing, but speaking to Bloody Elbow, Silva made it clear that he has no intentions of stopping and is searching for his next opportunity.

Silva said: “I’m training every day, two days a week I train Jiu-Jitsu, and yesterday I trained in boxing, and also Muay Thai. You know the special forces in the Army? That’s the same [with me]. I’m ready. I just need a few things. I just need ‘where’, an opponent, and the weight. I train every day."

He concluded: “I’m not done fighting.”

Nate Diaz

Nate Diaz became a free agent in 2022 after leaving the UFC and opted to take a big-money fight against Paul in Dallas.

Diaz showed impressive durability and cardio to go the distance with the much bigger Paul.

Just under a year later, Diaz donned the gloves once again to settle a beef with old UFC rival Jorge Masivdal, who boasts a win over Diaz.

Diaz won a majority decision to even the score between the two.

The former UFC star has not had any official fight announcements since, but he has been involved in some controversy. Diaz went to Thailand to film a reality show with UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones but shortly departed after a brawl with other cast members.

There have been rumours of Diaz making a return to the UFC, but there have been no confirmed reports, and the Stockton man said that the UFC is too ‘boring’ right now.

Diaz said: "Well, everybody’s boring right now, so I’m trying to do other s*** for the moment.”

He added: “But I want to go back and get a UFC title. I don’t want to fight for nothing, you know? I want to fight for something."
