We’ve hit Week 5 in the European League of Football (ELF), and things are getting real. Two teams remain unbeaten, others have yet to get off the mark, while the rest are tightly packed in the standings. With so little separating the contenders from the pack, every week feels like it could be make-or-break.
From playoff implications to rising stars, DAZN News breaks down the storylines set to steal the spotlight in a decisive week of ELF action.
Dual-threat Galaxy quarterback Matthew McKay has had a fine start to the season. He ranks first among all quarterbacks in completions (68.8%), fifth with 762 passing yards, and fifth in rushing yards (191).
Will the 25-year-old American be enough to help topple Division North leaders Storm - one of only two remaining teams with a perfect record? He may not have to do it alone, as Galaxy has a dominant ground game. Despite playing one game fewer than most of his rivals, former New York Giants running back Sandro Platzgummer still leads the ELF with 405 rushing yards, and Gerald Ameln - who led Frankfurt's backfield in Week 4 - ranks fourth with 314.
The Frankfurt defense will also hope to carry over their form from last week.
Despite the tough matchup, Storm also boasts playmakers on both sides of the ball, giving every chance of getting the result they need to maintain their unbeaten run.
Quarterback Jadrian Clark is currently fourth among all quarterbacks with 857 yards and is tied for second with 13 touchdowns, and he still has a game in hand over the players ranked above him. He has forged a dangerous connection with wide receiver Brendan Beaulieu, who has caught 88% of his targets for 395 yards and six touchdowns.
Defensively, Storm has the weapons to stymie Frankfurt's aerial attack, with ELF sack leader Max Parkinson and fellow edge rusher Marcus Boesen combining for eight sacks through three games.
If you're watching only one game this week, make it this one. All signs point to a high-energy, can't-miss matchup.
This showdown will see the return of an intense rivalry between two teams with similar records, despite finishing at opposite ends of their division last season.
Reigning ELF Champions Rhein Fire have struggled offensively this season and found themselves on the wrong side of a lopsided scoreline last weekend - losing 31-7 to the Paris Musketeers.
Fire was without several of their star players in Week 4 and will be desperate to get their offense on track in a must-win matchup against their countrymen in Week 5.
After beating Berlin Thunder last week, the Sea Devils have already matched their win tally from 2024 and will be keen to capitalise on their opposition's slow start. They'll be hoping Chrisman Kyei, currently second among all running backs in rushing yards, can help them achieve what would be a huge upset.
